Diagnosis of equipment

Any team or worthy of their time always technical repair shop should make a diagnosis of the team regardless of how obvious it may seem the problem. If you see someone who wants to start to take pieces and put new ones or to simply eliminate the team, run the quick mode.

For what so many questions?

To call first to a computer repair shop, it may feel as if you are being questioned by a crime. A bright light shining on his face and a couple of tough guys standing in front of you promising to "get outta truth already".

What is happening is that the technician is trying to collect as much information as possible to have a better understanding of what could cause problems. Some are better than others to put at ease during this important process. But in the long run the best way to get an overview of what could be happening.

Here is a brief list of what might have been expected that they ask the call to...

You have a desktop or laptop?
What brand is your computer and how long have you had?
What is the model number? You can find this around the LCD screen of the laptop or the adhesive on the bottom. (On the desktops of this rug be at the front or back of the PC)
What is the service tag number? This is primarily in Dell computers. (Other numbers to use p or s/n)
What has changed since the last time that the PC was working? Anything added or removed, updates, different users, storms, power outages, etc.)
What error show team? Note this if possible. It is a good resource to find out if others have had the same problem and what was done to correct this situation.
How long takes the team doing this?
What are they doing when this problem occurs? This is not to say that he is doing something wrong, but rather a way to find out if different applications or hardware are causing a problem.
Do occurs at the same time every day or after the same amount of time that has been using the PC? Time can play a vital role in the diagnosis of the equipment.

Do you really need a diagnosis?

The short answer is Yes. Even if you looking had cracked screen on your laptop must be removed before the parts are so. One who returns to some of the questions from above. How to break the screen? If you had eliminated you might have other issues that should be considered in addition to the screen.

Also, get the correct numbers the team are important when orders of spare parts. Sometimes a team has to open to get the actual part number. And in some cases may be only a loose connection which can be set on the ground which is a saving of money.

In the shop or at home?

It is usually more convenient than a technician computer to its location, but this can usually costs more than lead the team to the store. More on-site problems require at least two trips if the related hardware because parts must be ordered.

If you problem is software based, can only take a couple of hours depending on the problem. Software problems can sometimes be a bit difficult because so many different things come into play that could be causing problems with your computer.

The price?

Price, a simple word, but it seems the team service provider and the customer feels are trying in his high school to work up enough nerve to speak with his secret love interest.

After all, most of people don't know what a price is fair for the service of the team, so tend to fall in retail shopping mode and search for the lowest price. I'm not suggesting to do their homework before committing to the service of the team, but as you have always said, you get what pay.

Most of the equipment repair shops charge $70-$ 100 per hour for service in store and $ 100-300 for home work (this varies indifferent areas of the country). This does not include parts. Some charge a rate flat for its service, but in any case make sure who knows in advance what might expect to pay to get up the system and run.

Diagnostic charges vary widely and it should be prepared to pay at least that amount, even if not follow through the repair. Some computer repair shops can even shoot the diagnosis rate in its final invoice to save more money.

And finally, make sure that who decides to use is a professional certified computer repair. The most common is the CompTia certification to + which is a kind of a basic credential. Other technical equipment can have certifications from Microsoft and other certification bodies. Credentials of equipment and repair of real team work experience is the best combination, so take this into account when considering the price.
