Computers have several components and the computer box is what holds them together. These cases have changed over the years but remain the central part of any PC. To understand the cases and how they are integrated with the other components, one can understand computers better.
Computers have a number of large pieces. The computer box is what houses all the internal components of a computer. In the case, the motherboard is the largest component. Attached are the CPU (microprocessor) and memory (RAM). Ethernet capabilities (for connecting to the internet) are usually directly integrated on the motherboard. Other components inside the box include optical drives (such as DVD), for data storage hard drives and the power unit.
To connect the computer to peripheral devices, sound card, video card and USB card and others connecting all ports is set to the base plate. Typically these peripherals are the monitor, printer, keyboard, mouse, and other devices that need to be connected to a PC.
Optical drives are located in the front of the box of the computer along with the additional USB ports for easy access. Other peripherals from your computer is usually connected through the back of the box.
This case is most of the computer and is normally constructed mainly out of steel or aluminum. Also used plastic and acrylics, but its purpose is generally only to improve the design or the aspect of the case. Much of the weight of the equipment (except the monitor) is on the case by what one must consider its weight and avoid those with sharp, dangerous edges when you purchase. Beveled or finished edges are much safer.
Other materials used to build computer cases also include wood plastic, plexiglas, and believe it or not, even Lego blocks! Also mentioned cases of equipment for the chassis team, cabinets, boxes, enclosures, towers, or simply cases of CPU.
When the PC for the first time in the scene, the case was horizontal with the monitor it is placed at the top. This design of the case had the power to change behind with all ports also placed behind the box. This was a rather clumsy (some would say incomprehensible) position because the operator had to get up and reaching all the way back the computer to turn it on.
When the vertical computer case entered the scene, the monitor could be placed on the desktop with the vertical box (also called the "support of the tower") down to the side of the table. This was more convenient because it leaves more space on your desktop while allowing the user to access switches on the front panel.
Some computer cases have grown smaller over the years, but currently there is a limit on how small can get. While smaller cases are more compact, often do not have enough space to allow adequate cooling or for new devices to be added to the team. Due to these factors, computer tower stands remain popular.
