Asus has a new 13.3 inch laptop in the works that will be powered by the 1.65 GHz AMD E-450 dual core processor coupled with Radeon HD 6320 graphics. Blogese reports the model to be the Asus U32U and it’s expected to ship early next year for $449 and up in the US.
The AMD E-450 up until now has been seen mainly as a netbook processor, but not a full-blown laptop or desktop chip. It has a TDP of 18W, which allows you to get better battery life than you’d see from a computer with a more powerful AMD processor. But the AMD E-series chips can run circles around Intel Atom processors, which means that if you don’t need a bleeding edge device, you may be able to use a computer like the Asus U32U as a primary computer.
The base model of the new laptop will have 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a 1366 x 768 pixel display, USB 3.0, HDMI, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and a 5600mAh battery which may be able to provide up to 12 hours of battery life.
